SBE 16 Hamburg
Dear PhD students,
The SBE16 Hamburg Conference is part of an international series of conferences that focus on sustainable building and construction. The series was launched by the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE) and the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), in cooperation with the Sustainable Building and Climate Initiative (SBCI) of UNEP and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
The Hamburg conference will be held from 8th to 11th March 2016 and marks the start of the SBE conference series on regional level in 2016 in preparation for the next SBE World Conference 2017 in Hong Kong.
PHD WORKSHOPS – CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The organisers of the Sustainable Built Environment Conference 2016 in Hamburg invite PhD students to present and discuss their research in front of an inspiring and academic setting. The PhD workshops will be held on 11th March 2016 from 9 am to 3.30 pm.
The purpose is to promote and facilitate cooperation among doctoral students from various universities as well as between junior and senior scientists. The presenters will obtain feedback from established scholars in their field and have the opportunity to deepen the exchange with other PhD students.
THEMES
There will be different workshops focusing on specific topics. Each workshop will be coordinated by an expert. The topics covered are:
COURSE OF THE WORKSHOPS
The workshops begin with three presentations. Each presentation will last about ten minutes and the presenter will give a brief overview of his or her work-in-progress. The presentations should deal with the issues addressed or hypotheses tested in the PhD thesis, the results so far obtained, the methodology applied and, optionally, open questions. After the presentations the coordinators will lead the discussion in the form of a workshop.
HOW TO APPLY
Authors must be PhD candidates and can submit only one extended abstract which should not exceed 1.5 pages. Abstracts should be submitted by 30th November to sbe@zebau.de together with an indication as to which of the above mentioned topics the work relates. Authors will receive the notification of acceptance by 16th December 2015.
After acceptance, authors will be required to register for the PhD workshop via the conference electronic system using the link on the website https://www.conftool.com/sbe16hamburg/. The fee for participating the PhD workshop is included in a 3-days ticket for SBE16 Hamburg. If you are not visiting the SBE16 Hamburg but want to participate the PhD workshop, the fee amounts to € 25,-. The account at the conference management system may also be used to book excursions offered by the conference organisers.
Note that PhD students may attend the full SBE16 Hamburg Conference at a reduced fee. Presentation at a PhD session is not incompatible with participating in and presenting at other sessions at the conference.
